New method to detect forbidden colouring agents in meat products

Scientists of the federal research institute for nutrition and food (BfEL) in Kulmbach, Germany, developed a procedure, with which it is possible to trace different coloring materials in
meat products. These artificial pigments are considered carcinogenic and they are not allowed for the food production in the European Union. The new method is an important contribution to the consumer protection, announces the scientists of the BfEL in Kulmbach.
